The Best Way to Castrate Your Husband-Part Four

Whew! We've FINALLY made it to the last post in this series. I could write an entire post as to where I've been, but I think I'll just jump right into it.

Better to dwell in the wilderness,

A continual dripping on a very rainy day
And a contentious woman are alike; Proverbs 27: 15

The basic definition of contentious is quarrelsome.  Solomon tells us TWICE that it is better for a man to live on his roof than with a quarrelsome woman.

Look at Proverbs 27.  If you have a leaky roof on a rainy day and must place a bucket to catch the water, after a while the sound of that dripping will drive you insane!The same goes for a drip in the faucet, tub or shower while you are trying to sleep.  You will soon find ways to drown out the sound (no pun intended); you'll do anything to keep from hearing that incessant, annoying sound. 

A man with a wife who complains, nags, nick-picks and downgrades will soon learn to tune her out altogether, or he may just find it better to not come home!  At the least, he will find ways to stay out of the house (and away from his wife) as much as possible.

Most husbands want to please their wives.  A woman who refuses to allow her husband to lead, or who constantly second guesses or criticizes his decisions will either drive her husband away or will damage his self-perception to the extent that he forgets the role God called him to. He finds it easier to appease his quarrelsome and discontented wife than to claim his God-given authority as leader of the home.

Ladies, I ask, Is this the kind of marriage you want?  Do you want your husband to look for ways to avoid you? Do you want him so hen pecked that he feels, and IS, incapable of making even the smallest decisions for himself?

As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout,
So is a lovely woman who lacks discretion. Proverbs 11:22

We can be involved in every activity in church. We can lead a woman's bible study or teach Sunday school. We can open our homes in hospitality and volunteer to aid the downtrodden.  We could even be supermodel pretty, wearing designer clothing and fabulous shoes; the ultimate trophy wife. None of this matters if our husbands feel as if they must walk on eggshells around us.

If we want to serve the Lord, and truly be the women God has called us to be, we need to strive for that which He says makes the "ultimate trophy wife":

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— ⁴ rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptiblebeauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3: 3-4

and

Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31: 30-31

If you struggle with discontentment in your marriage, always finding yourself irritated and dissatisfied with your husband, ask God to help you obtain that gentle and quiet spirit He finds so precious and to fulfill your role as your husband's helpmeet.
